Exam questions from today's exam have been published at "Old Exams" section, so you can see what kind of questions to expect in the exams for this course. This exam was intended to students who had returned the assignments.

The 2nd assignment results are finally published under Results subpage. If your results are missing though you've sent them, contact the lecturer. Thanks for mostly interesting reading, and sorry for the delay in giving the results! The 3rd assignment results will be published on Monday 10th.

As one student is leaving the country before first exam date, an additional exam possibility is offered on Wednesday 12.5. 9-12 in T1. Contact the lecturer ASAP if you wish to take the exam on 12.5. After the 12.5. exam has been held, the exam questions will be published on course web site so you can see what kind of questions to expect in the exam.

The course final exam can be taken on the following times: 1) Friday 21.5.2010 at 9-12 2) Friday 27.8.2010 at 9-12 3) Thursday 16.12.10 at 9-12 Register for the exam as usual for other exams at TKK. The exact room will be announced by the exam organizer. It will be a computer room either in main building or Maarintalo computer room. This is an open book exam and also access to computer + Internet is available. Welcome for the guest lecture by Andreas Heiner, Principal Scientist in Usable Security at Nokia Research Center on Friday 23.4. at 12:15! Andreas will talk on Authentication and usability. I am currently stuck in Spain on a business trip and may not be able to be there for the lecture due to the volcanic ash from Iceland, blocking most of the air traffic to Northern Europe - also my return to Finland. Researcher Puneet Kaur from my group will be there instead.

Infrmationo about exam possibilities and exam material has been added to Noppa "Additional reading" page. There will be four exam possibilities in 2010. The exact dates will be announced asap. To take the exam, registration is needed. The exam material differ for those who have passed the assignments and for those who haven't. The exam will be open book, so you can bring all material you wish with you. Possibility to bring a laptop or otherwise have access to Internet is also likely (to be confirmed) When you take the exam, please indicate which group you belong to and answer the questions accordingly.

Results of the 2nd assignment will be published Friday by 12:00 on 23.4.2010 on Noppa in the "Results" page. The results of the corrected first assignments will be published simultaneously.

Usability specialist Laura Turkki from Nordea will in her guest lecture share with us her long-term experience with usability issues and work with Nordea bank's online services. The lecture starts at 12:15 as usual. Welcome! After the lecture, information about final exam and other course practicalities will be given.

Course will be arranged in Spring 2010 (periods III through IV). The course will start on Friday 22, 2010 at 12-14 in seminar room T5 in T-building. The course will last for two periods (III and IV) and is lectured by Dr. Kristiina Karvonen. The course consists of lectures and assignments and a final exam.

The exam results are now in Noppa. For a good grade, the essay had to discuss the usability of a wide range of service features that are related to both (1) security and privacy and (2) usability and human aspects fo computing. Points were also given for relevant references to different articles in the textbook. No points were given for listing service features or telling how great the free service is. The essay also had to demonstrate understanding of the basic concepts of computer security. Clearly, many students are unused to writing essays.
