Prerequirements

The Internetworking Seminar is meant for graduate and advanced undergraduate students, who plan to finish their studies within a year. This means, that the participant must have done at least 100 credits, and must have passed the basic courses in telecommunication such as

This limit is strict, since the amount of participants that can be accepted for the seminar is limited to 25.

Content

The Internetworking Seminar concentrates on current trends in the Internet: techniques, ideas and protocols. The seminar provides an excellent medium to practise writing seminar papers as well as giving presentations. The research paper will be written and presented in English.

The seminar has two kinds of participants, tutors and students.

The students goal is to produce a scientific paper, while at the same time learning research and presentation techniques. There will be research areas, that the student can choose from. The student will have a tutor, with whom the student agrees on a specific topic to write about and who will help him get started. The student can (and should) turn to his tutor for advice during the course.

Tutors are mostly postgraduate students, who have as well experience of scientific writing as work experience from the field of telecommunication. The tutors role is to guide a set of students through the process of researching a topic and refining the research work into a scientific article. This includes coming up with a topic, finding some material to start the research from, helping the student specify the research problem, and guiding him in problems related to as well content as presentation style.

The climax of the course is a two-day conference, where all students present their topics and their findings. The conference will give all participants an insight into the current trends in internetworking technology, and provide a good forum for discussion.
