Fault management
Fault management makes it possible for the network managers to detect faults in the functioning of the network or some parts of it as well as locate and fix them
For these purposes, fault management includes the following mechanisms:
- Error reporting - a system can report a fault by using the CMIS
- Logging and reporting - error situations are written to a log so that they can be traced and their causes fixed
- Diagnostics for locating faults - CMIS provides the tools for querying error-related issues from the managed objects and simulating the error situation
- Fault correction, which together with configuration and name management makes it possible to fix the fault or arrange a work-around for it
