Base Station (BS)

• The Base Station is the common name for all the radio

equipment located at one and the same place used for

serving one or several calls.

• The Base Station System (BSS) may consist of one or more

base stations.

• The BSS consists of a Base Station Controller (BSC), which

is controlling one or more Base Transceiver Station (BTS).

• A BTS serves one cell.
