20.6.2007 Preliminary course page opened for fall 2007 course.
This is a closed seminar for those
doctoral student whose post-graduate major is Telecommunication
Software (T-110). Post-graduate students have an opportunity
to make a 30 min presentation on their own research topic (this can
be an idea for a conference paper, conference presentation practice or
theme for the doctoral thesis, etc). Another 30 min is reserved for
discussion.
In fall 2007, seminar meetings are every second week on
Fridays at 15-16 in lecture room T5(?).

Note!Before every friday session, participants
need to email to course assistant before 11:00 AM on the session day
if they are comming or not. Seminar sessions will be cancelled and
email will be send to participants, if there are not enough audience,
before 13:00 on the Friday. Audience is essential for discussion!
Sign up for this seminar is done sending an email
to Antti Ylä-Jääski (anttiyj at tml.hut.fi). Give your name,
student number, and when you would like to present and what.
In order to pass the course, you give a
presentation, participate to the (five) seminar
meetings, and give feedback to others and
participate to the discussion. The presentation
should be your own research topic. It can be a initial ideas for
conference paper, a seminar presentation that you want to practice
(note the length of the presentation is 30-45 minutes!) or you can
speak on your own thesis topic as a whole. You can ask the audience to
give feedback especially to some area e.g. the presentation style or
the idea on the paper. In addition, all will fill in a feedback form
and finally, you have to participate to the discussion by saying
something (sound). You have to participate at least five meetings
(your own presentation + four other presentations).
The course address advanced issues concerning the Internet. The
topical area varies yearly covering research questions in
Internet network architectures, protocols, newtork middleware,
applications, services and service management.
