Call for participation

The Department of Computer Science and
Engineering, Helsinki University of Technology,
offers the research methods course for
PhD-students and master students. The course aims
at providing tools and insight for PhD students
in fields of computing and engineering education
or educational technology to help them get
started successfully on their own research
projects. The course provides students with
understanding of different parts of the research
project including aspects, such as, problem
definition, setting hypothesis, research design,
and data gathering.

The course is organized in four intensive full
working days interleaving with pre- and home
assignments:

Part I: February 26 - 27 (Erik de Graaff, Delft University of Technology)
Part II: March 20
Part III: April 17

The course is directed for doctoral level
students and researchers working in the fields of
computing and engineering education or
educational technology. However, students from
other science education -relating disciplines may
also find the course interesting and fit for
their needs. Students close to graduating as
MSc, for example, working with their MSc thesis
project may also enroll. The course is beneficial
especially to students who are starting their
research projects. At most 15 students are
accepted for the course.
