Tuomas Aura, Biography

Tuomas Aura was appointed as professor of computer science at Helsinki University of Technology in 2008. Tuomas worked as a researcher at Microsoft Research in Cambridge, England, during 2001-2009. Before that he was a researcher at Helsinki University of Technology. Tuomas's research themes are related to data security challenges in new communication technologies. His recent research has focused on Internet and mobility protocols, user privacy protection and distributed security policies. Tuomas is especially interested in information security solutions that do not require large investments in infrastructure. Tuomas took part e.g. in developing the security solutions for the Mobile IPv6 and SEND protocol standards in the IETF. He teaches network security at University College London, serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Computer Security and is actively involved in the program committees of scientific conferences. Tuomas received his M.Sc. degree in 1996 and Ph.D. degree in 2000 from Helsinki University of Technology. His doctoral thesis was on authorization and availability in distributed systems. |
